I’ve just about packed everything I need to take with me. There are a few last minute preparations to be made, but for the most part I am ready. I’ll be visiting my Dad’s side of the family first. They live north of Manhattan, KS near a little town called Randolf. Just about my whole family is showing up for a reunion on Saturday. It is exciting. There will be a lot of people there I haven’t seen in many many years. I am looking forward to it.

From there my immediate family and I will go see my mom’s side. I’m still not sure what the plan is. We may visit them in Concordia, KS, but there has been talk of that moving to Wichita where my uncles live. Grandma was worried about being able to put up that many people in her house. Either way I’ll get to visit with them as well.

I’ll be leaving early in the morning, and I am going to try to be back in town for the Sunday night service on July 6th, at least that’s the plan. Until then I am not sure if I’ll have internet access. I will check email and comments if I can, but I may not be able to until late on the 6th, or on the 7th. I may not even have cell phone signal, so I may not be reachable. If it’s important leave a message and I’ll try to check it as often as possible.

Now that I have your attention I’ll explain the title of this post. Marilyn came back to the shop and told me about this rant that Dave Ramsey just had, and titled it Butt Scratching and Bass Fishing. He said that he normally doesn’t blog, but this is something that he felt strongly about, imagine Dave Ramsey feeling strongly about something. He said people should go to DaveRamsey.com and look for the Butt Scratching and Bass Fishing link.

I read the rant, and that’s the best term for it. As always he just nailed it. I can’t agree with him more, so I wanted to spotlight his rant and send as many people as I can to read it. This is something we all need to be aware of with the coming election cycle. Check it out and let me know what you think.

DaveRamsey.com - Butt Scratching and Bass Fishing

My Grandmother posted a comment last week. She wanted to let me know My Grandpa’s sister Wanita and her husband Jim were coming through Murfreesboro soon, and they would like to see me for a burger or some Ice Cream. She is the sister of Grandpa on my Dad’s side. Today I got to sit at one of our local Dairy Queen Grill & Chill restaurants and enjoy a Blizzard with them. From what we could remember, and most of that was their memory not mine, we had not seen each other since I was somewhere between five to eight. Jim said he remembered wrestling with me at my Grandpa’s farm when I was very small, and from the time frame we’re guessing at my age. I don’t remember at all.

I thought we had a good conversation, and I hope they call me whenever they’re coming through again. It’s nice to see someone in family even if you don’t know them very well. We got to talk about a lot of cool things, and learn a little about each other.

I also find it interesting they came through town the week before I’m going to Kansas for a family reunion. They won’t be making it to the reunion, but I’ll be able to pass on news of them while I’m there. I guess this is going to be a busy week for me in the family department.
