Traffic Light Cameras

I heard a story on the radio today. It pertains to something I’ve been complaining about for a long time now. There is a tendency of drivers in Rutherford County to run through red lights. What particularly perturbs me is when after my light turns green three more cars turning left from the other direction come through. They hold up the cars on the other side of the light causing fewer cars to get through the intersection per light cycle, never mind that they are slowing me down from getting where I am going.

Back to the point. I heard on the radio that there is, in works, a program to install cameras at key intersections throughout the county and Murfreesboro city. These cameras are to monitor the intersections for any vehicles that travel through the intersection after the light turns red. The images will then be processed to issue the driver of that vehicle a citation which will then be mailed to them. This program has not been put in place yet. There is another vote to approve it, but from what I understood, it is almost passed.

I don’t know about anybody else, but I am looking forward to this. It really bothers me that people have so little regard to anybody else that they don’t even consider the other people affected when they run through the lights. It’s about time the city came up with an effective methd of enforcement for traffic lights. Everybody knows the police can’t be there to catch everybody that runs through a light, so they all take the chance. This will remove that chance. With this system, they will be caught and ticketed. There is no ifs or maybes. It’s great. I really hope they install the system. I believe it will help traffic tremendously. It will at least help to curb the people cutting me off after my light turns green.

Progress and Goals

I’ve accomplished several things this week. I’ve switched back to my natural sleep cycle. I am a morning person, so this new work schedule works really well for me. The new job is great. I am really enjoying it. I’m learning a lot about carpentry I didn’t know, and refining some things I did now, but should do better.

We’ll see what happens, but I would like to keep this job for a while. I’m thinking it’s something I can do for two or three years. I have a couple of ideas I’ve been thinking about for a while now that I want to try, but they both will take time and money to get started. They will also take a lot of prayer, thought, and planning to make sure they work. Both are possible income opportunities. One will just take a little planning to see what I need to purchase to get it started, and do some marketing. It has the potential to make me money while I start concentrating on my other idea.

The other one will take a great deal more time, thought, and prayer, but it is what I believe to be my calling in life. I’ve struggled with trying to figure out what that is for a long time. I am not ready personally to start this second idea, but I figure I have a couple of years to get ready. I have a lot of research and personal training to do, as well as prepare emotionally for dealing with the subject I plan to tackle. This is something where I think I can really make a difference. It’s something that I believe will really help people.

I am sorry about being vague on all of this, but I’m not ready to disclose what it is I’m looking at doing. I’ll be ready to discuss the first idea fairly soon. I may never tell a lot of my friends about the second, even if or when I start it, or even if it is successful. I’ll just have to wait and see how I feel about it when that time comes.

First Day

I worked my first day on the new job today. It was great. I really enjoyed it. I’ve always liked building things, so I feel right at home in this job. I think I did rather well for me first day. I built a couple sets of shelves for some bedroom closets. I also helped start setting up a really neat ceiling beam thing. It has a technical name but I can’t remember what it is.

For a little while now I’ve been trying to draw closer to God, and learn more about him and his nature. I was sitting there today working on one of the shelves when I realized something. I am learning carpentry. I just thought that was cool. I am learning the profession that Jesus learned from his earthly father. I’m looking forward to tomorrow. I am excited to see what I get to work on next.
